It is a performative gesture to share personal experiences of/with/through music. It aims to create a space where you can submerge to the same intimate feeling of experience of privacy as well as the collectivity of listening to a song. 

hit different is a request for revolutionary loitering. Suggestion of a sweet stimuli and sensory experience as active effort and act of care.

Hit Different is a performative gesture to share intimate experiences of/with/through music, words and sounds. It aims to create a space where you can submerge to the feelings of collectivity as well as the private experience of listening. We lean into performing and archiving the soundscapes through readings, recordings, songs and loops that resonate deep in the systems of the givers and reserves. 

How do I experience the sounds of my reality? What are the sounds of my body? How do I relate to these sounds? How do I work with them? What do I want to express? How do I let them be?

I don't have a sound, or I am too loud.

I am hypnotizing, I am disgusting and afraid.

I am silent in sorrow and free in my laugh.

With this project we align ourselves into the footsteps of storytellers as collectors of memories and knowledge of our own bodies, as well as the stories and creators that have affected us. Storytelling sustains history, ritual and psychological safety and works as a surface to make sense of human experiences, turning chaos into meaning. 

Participatory gathering
Storytelling and a type of non-idiomatic vocal and kinetic improvisation share a core function: meaning-making in real time. The listening session is about hearing and then making a contribution of your need and impulse. Like creating structure from uncertainty without relying on fixed ideas of what commonalities of sounding are, still finding a way to compliment, align, oppose, cross or express any feeling to address what the set situation is. We go into it with a shared risk, and collective presence.

I grunt, you answer with a howl.
